About The Position

Elmhurst University is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach an undergraduate level Human Anatomy and Physiology I course. This course, BIO 107 Human Anatomy & Physiology I, covers the structure and function of the human body and underlying biological principles. It is designed for students in nursing, physical education, and health sciences, and is not applicable for biology majors or minors. The course includes a laboratory component with a virtual dissection table. The position is exempt and the salary range is $3,800-$4,000 for a standard 1.0 credit (4 semester hour) course, with new part-time faculty starting at $3,800 (Adjunct Level 1). This position is ineligible for remote work.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in biology or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to speak and hear for in-person and virtual communication.
  • Ability to use close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens.
  • Ability to perform tasks with repetitive fine motor skills.
  • Ability to lift, bend, carry, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 15 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations).

Responsibilities

  • Using standardized materials across all sections of the course, including provided Blackboard shell, assessments, and activities.
  • Completing all course planning and material preparation, as well as posting to the delivery platform (Blackboard), prior to the first day of class.
  • Being present for all course meetings, including the final exam period, and holding additional office hours to assist students.
  • Monitoring student progress, grading assignments, and posting grades on Blackboard in a timely fashion.
  • Submitting midterm and final grades to the University by the required due dates.
  • Completing appropriate faculty training (e.g., cybersecurity training) by the due dates.
  • Supporting the mission, vision, and values of Elmhurst University.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
