About The Position

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions as Adjunct Counselors for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants for potential openings at LACCD's nine colleges. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators, demonstrating a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. Applicants can indicate their college preferences during the application process. Qualified candidates may be offered interviews with Counseling Department members at one or more of the LACCD colleges. Final assignment depends on enrollment, funding, and class availability.

Requirements

Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent.
A Bachelor's degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification.
A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption for COVID-19.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive academic advisement and counseling services to students from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and educational experiences.
