About The Position

Louisiana Delta Community College is seeking an Adjunct Automotive Technology Instructor to provide instruction and support student learning within the Industrial Sciences department. This role involves delivering engaging lectures and hands-on laboratory training in automotive technology, vehicle service and repair, and automotive systems diagnosis and maintenance. The instructor will also collaborate on curriculum development, create effective lesson plans, emphasize safety procedures, and utilize instructional technology. A commitment to professional development and maintaining current industry knowledge is essential.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
5 years of current relevant experience in the automotive repair industry
Hold at least one earned ASE certification.
Service-oriented

Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds.
Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

Technical diploma or higher in automotive technology or a closely related field
Current relevant experience in the automotive repair industry
Hold at least one earned ASE certification.

Responsibilities

Teach up to 29 hours per week during regular academic semesters as needed.
Provide instruction during day, afternoon, evening, and weekend classes when applicable.
Deliver engaging classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory training in automotive technology, vehicle service and repair, and automotive systems diagnosis and maintenance.
Incorporate industry best practices, safety procedures, and modern automotive technologies into instruction.
Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and faculty to develop and revise course curriculum, ensuring alignment with current automotive industry standards and addressing workforce needs.
Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning activities that support course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and encourage active student participation.
Integrate practical, hands-on learning experiences into coursework.
Emphasize proper safety procedures and shop practices.
Utilize instructional technology and industry-standard equipment to enhance learning.
Participate in ongoing training, certifications, and professional development activities.
Maintain current knowledge of automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry trends.
Become ASE Al certified (minimum).
Attend necessary meetings.
