Addictions Counsellor Degree Senior
About The Position
This is a full-time regular position with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), the largest employer in Saskatchewan. The role is based in Regina within the Child & Youth&Adolescent - Mental Health Community Case Management department. The Addictions Counsellor will work collaboratively with managers to foster a positive, safe, and cohesive workplace atmosphere. Responsibilities include supporting program development, evaluation, and data collection to inform program improvements. The position also involves establishing positive relationships with other community organizations and services, taking on a leadership role. Preference will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Chemical Dependency or Bachelor of Social Work (BSW).
- 3 years experience working with mental health and addictions.
- Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies.
- Knowledge of assessment, triage, treatment and case management.
- Knowledge of intervention strategies for individuals with Mental health problems.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of impacts on MH&AS access.
- Knowledge of normal child & adolescent development & psychopathology.
- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation.
- Knowledge in diverse cultures, values and traditions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a vehicle available for work.

- Experience working with youth with severe and persistent MH issues an asset.
- Professional registration with applicable professional assoc. (if applicable).
Responsibilities

- Ability to formulate evidence-based intervention based on clinical presentation.
- Ability to design, initiate and conduct in service training for others.
- Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems.
- Can function independently & as member of interdisciplinary mental health team.
