About The Position

As a member of the Addiction Counselling Team and Under the general direction of the Manager of Addiction and Integrated Outreach Services and the Clinical Supervisor, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking general services for addiction and mental health by implementing services consistent with the current Provincial Clinical Models for Mental Health and Addition Services and the philosophy, objectives and standards set by Addiction Services. Responsibilities will include providing informational programming through individual and group counseling sessions to clients in the community and office setting. This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs and implement plans to help clients reach their goals.

Requirements

  • Chemical Dependency diploma
  • Completed social sciences or human services discipline acceptable to employer
  • Crisis management skills
  • Ability to conduct individual and group counselling/educational programs
  • Ability and flexibility in adapting to changing situations and environments
  • Knowledge in Mental Health and Addictions
  • Knowledge in group dynamics
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability for competent case management practice
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing
  • Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.
  • Knowledge in mental health and addictions and concurrent medical conditions
  • Committed to own professional growth and development
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing workload
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Knowledge of aboriginal health issues, culture and traditions
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Experience in a mental health and addictions program required
