About The Position

Crescent City Physicians, Inc. is seeking experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join their Intensive Care Unit team on a PRN basis. This role involves managing complex patient populations in a fast-paced ICU environment, providing compassionate, evidence-based care alongside a collaborative team of intensivists, nurses, and healthcare professionals. The position offers the opportunity to practice at the top of one's license and perform advanced procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current, unrestricted Louisiana Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of critical care experience as an NP, PA, or RN
  • Demonstrated experience managing critically ill patients in an ICU setting
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in advanced critical care procedures
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a high-acuity environment
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork

Nice To Haves

  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (CCNP) certification preferred
  • CCRN certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of critically ill patients.
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team.
  • Facilitate seamless transitions of care during shift changes and patient handoffs.
  • Assist with and perform advanced bedside procedures, including intubations, central venous line placements, arterial line insertions, and other critical care procedures within scope of practice.
  • Prescribe and manage medications as permitted by licensure and organizational protocols.
  • Titrate critical care medications and initiate emergency interventions when appropriate.
  • Continuously assess patient status and response to treatment.
  • Interpret laboratory and diagnostic results.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding treatment plans, prognosis, and ongoing care needs.
  • Provide compassionate support during critical situations.
  • Participate in quality initiatives and evidence-based practice projects.
  • Support departmental goals related to safety, patient outcomes, and operational excellence.
