Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse - Nocturnal On-Call
About The Position
DaVita is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide dialysis care to patients with end-stage renal disease and chronic kidney conditions in a hospital setting. This fast-paced, collaborative role involves working with patients in ICU, CCU, ED, and other acute care units across hospitals in Santa Clara, Burlingame, San Jose, and San Mateo. The role is nocturnal on-call, with 3–4 shifts per week beginning at 6 p.m.; shifts are guaranteed for a minimum of eight hours. The schedule includes regular and on-call shifts, rotated weekends, and holidays, and daily schedules may change based on patient needs. Nurses work across hospital units and rotate between facilities as needed.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Prior dialysis experience is required for this acute RN role.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Must pass a color vision test; accommodations are available.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 may be required by hospitals in the program, potentially including a booster when eligible.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- ICU, CCU, ER, or Med/Surg experience is helpful but not required.
- CNN/CDN certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Deliver inpatient dialysis therapies, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, and apheresis.
- Collaborate with hospital teams and DaVita clinical staff.
- Monitor patients, adjust treatment, and ensure quality outcomes.
- Support and oversee patient care with the help of PCTs.
- Adapt quickly in a dynamic hospital environment.
