Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse
About The Position
DaVita is seeking a registered nurse to provide dialysis care in a hospital setting for patients with end-stage renal disease and chronic kidney conditions. This fast-paced, collaborative role involves working directly with patients in ICU, CCU, ED, and other acute care units. The nurse will work across hospitals in Antioch and Walnut Creek and a detention facility in Martinez, rotating between facilities as needed. The schedule is 3–4 day shifts per week. Day shifts begin at 7 a.m. and are typically 10 hours long, depending on census. Rotated weekends are required, and the schedule includes regular and on-call shifts, including weekends and holidays. A day-shift RN may cover on-call shifts from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. if the nocturnal on-call team needs assistance. Daily schedules may change based on patient needs.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Prior dialysis training or experience is required for this acute role.
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required.
- Must pass a color vision test; accommodations are available.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination may be required by hospitals in the program, potentially including a booster when eligible.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- ICU, CCU, ER, or Med/Surg experience is helpful but not required.
- CNN/CDN certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Deliver inpatient dialysis therapies, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, and apheresis.
- Collaborate with hospital teams and DaVita clinical staff.
- Monitor patients, adjust treatment, and ensure quality outcomes.
- Support and oversee patient care with the help of PCTs.
- Adapt quickly in a dynamic hospital environment.
