The Acute Care Technician works on the 22-bed Oncology Unit at TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital, serving adult and geriatric patients with medical-surgical needs and complex oncological conditions. The unit cares for patients with solid tumors, hematological malignancies, rare blood disorders, and patients recovering from autologous bone marrow transplants or CAR-T cell therapies. The bone marrow transplant program is FACT accredited, and the unit is part of an expanding cellular therapy program. Patients may receive chemotherapy and other high-risk medications, making attention to detail and multidisciplinary teamwork important. This is a full-time night-shift role, scheduled for 72 hours biweekly from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Staff rotate every third weekend and holidays. The unit describes its environment as flexible and supportive, with 12-hour shifts and self-scheduling over a six-week period. Full-time night-shift Acute Care Technicians receive an additional $2 per hour shift premium and a $1.75 per hour shift differential. The position performs basic patient-care tasks under RN supervision, supports a safe and clean care environment, communicates and documents patient information, and helps maintain unit supplies and equipment. The role offers hands-on experience in a high-acuity medical-surgical oncology setting, opportunities to develop competency in emergency response and advanced care tasks, and organizational support for professional growth and continuing learning.
