About The Position

The Acute Care Technician works on the 6200 Medical-Surgical Unit at TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital, a 38-bed unit specializing in urology care and also caring for medical patients with complex needs. Under RN supervision, the technician performs and documents basic patient care tasks, maintains competency in trained skills, and supports a safe, clean, well-stocked care environment. The role involves communicating respectfully with patients, families, and team members; accurately documenting observations; reporting relevant patient information and issues; and helping maintain unit operations. The position is full-time, day shift, scheduled for 72 hours bi-weekly from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with every-third-weekend and holiday rotations.

Requirements

Two years of high school education.
Age 17 with a work permit.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.

Nice To Haves

Experience as an STNA, PCA, or ACT is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform and document basic patient care tasks under RN supervision; maintain competency in trained skills, complete assignments on time, and seek clarification when needed.
Maintain a safe, clean environment by reporting hazards, following infection-control policies, completing safety event reports, and adhering to safety and emergency procedures.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and team members; promptly report patient information and assignment issues, accurately document observations, collaborate with the healthcare team, and use the chain of command appropriately.
Support unit operations by performing supply, equipment, and environmental tasks; report shortages or equipment problems and ensure supplies and equipment are ready for the next user.
Demonstrate accountability and commitment to self-growth, identify areas for improvement, and support organizational and unit changes.
