About The Position

The ratemaking team (Overall rate level, Ontario, Atlantic and Western regions) is seeking an actuarial team lead. The ideal candidate will be eager to innovate, passionate about process optimization, and capable of applying their knowledge of overall rate level analysis. This role offers the opportunity to lead, influence, and transform DGIG’s decision-making process for rate adjustment strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience, including extensive experience with the overall rate-level analysis process
  • Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

Responsibilities

  • Review the current process for rate indications, identify any shortcomings and find innovative solutions to make it more precise and effective.
  • Help implement new work processes for producing rate indications.
  • Oversee the production of rate indications and coordinate work with ratemaking teams and corporate actuarial services.
  • Coach the ratemaking teams in OAW and the members of the Overall Rate Level Analysis, OAW Auto team on the rate indications process and the selection of underlying assumptions.
  • Develop and recommend rate adjustment strategies
  • Monitor auto insurance product profitability in OAW markets
