About The Position

As an Actuarial Consultant, you will lead pricing initiatives and collaborate with business partners to understand their needs. You will lead complex projects to deliver unique solutions to ensure the profitability of our Ontario private passenger pricing portfolio.

Requirements

  • Completed a post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or a related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of modeling softwares and programming languages (SQL, SAS, R and/or Python).
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the property and casualty actuarial field.
  • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance products, emerging trends and best practices in the actuarial landscape.
  • Proficiency in English.

Nice To Haves

  • French is an asset.
  • Having or working towards the Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation(s) is an asset.
  • Having experience with Earnix is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence partners to develop and validate machine learning models used for Automated Reserving.
  • Process, analyze and transform data for various business applications.
  • Analyze and present information to internal & external stakeholders, including Valuation, Claims, and Pricing.
  • Support continuous improvements in Automated Reserving governance framework and model performance monitoring.
  • Perform reinsurance catastrophe modelling analyses, including data collection, modelling and model validation.
  • Maintain capabilities for technical software programs that simulate catastrophic events for the Co-operators Group, including up to date understanding of alternative models used to estimate catastrophe loss potential in Canada.
  • Support the validation of the reinsurance treaty data. Work with business partners to understand the reasonableness of policy data used for treaty negotiations and facilitate improvements required to meet requirements for the reinsurance work.
  • Complete required internal and external reports related to data, modelling, industry and regulatory reporting.
