About The Position

As an actuary in Guardian’s Student Program, you will develop a thorough understanding of our products and how your job responsibilities contribute towards achieving the goals of Guardian. You will assist in performing financial and non-financial analysis and make recommendations consistent with Guardian’s goals regarding growth and profitability. As part of the Student Program, expect to rotate departments every 18 to 24 months, providing the opportunity for a breadth of experience. You are A self-starter who is fueled by collaboration, able to transform conceptual thinking into executable insights, who thrives in diving into business problems and using data to make decisions.

Requirements

  • Passed at least one actuarial exam in pursuit of the Actuarial Associate designation in the Society of Actuaries, and intend to pursue the Actuarial Fellow designation
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience in the actuarial field (life insurance preferred but not required)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without the need for employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • VBA, Python, APL, or other programming knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas of improvement regarding procedural and/or technical aspects of projects
  • Complete assignments on time and according to specifications provided by your supervisor
  • Strive towards completion of such assignments as independently as possible, recognizing situations where managerial guidance is needed
  • Actively seek and take on additional challenges to grow and develop professionally
  • Utilize internal and external data sources to better understand industry trends, clients, competitors, and the regulatory environment
