Actuarial Sr Consultant, General Liability Pricing (Agribusiness & E&S) - REMOTE If you’re a P&C actuarial professional looking to own a portfolio, influence general liability pricing strategy, and work with modern tools in a highly collaborative environment, this role is designed for you. Own a High-Impact Portfolio Take lead actuarial responsibility for one of Nationwide’s portfolios, driving pricing strategy for a complex, growing book of business. Serve as the primary actuarial contact and spokesperson for your portfolio with underwriting, product, finance, reserving, and leadership partners. Translate complex pricing analysis into clear recommendations that shape rate actions, underwriting strategy, and overall profitability. Help shape and support filings—providing actuarial expertise, rate indications, and technical rationale—without owning every filings detail alone. Ideal for GL pricing actuaries who either already have filings experience or are interested in building that capability in a supported, collaborative way. As an Actuarial Sr Consultant, you’ll need to have detailed familiarity with business operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies. We’ll count on you to be adept at complex actuarial techniques and work independently to combine advanced actuarial and business knowledge to provide high-level analysis. Additionally, you’ll have expertise to provide consultation and recommendations on deliverables and maintain detailed documentation of actuarial models and analyses. You’ll work independently and may lead others.

Requirements

  • P&C actuarial pricing experience in general liability or related commercial lines, ideally with exposure to agribusiness, E&S, or other specialty portfolios.
  • Progress toward or completion of ACAS/FCAS; we welcome strong near-ACAS candidates with relevant GL pricing experience.
  • Proven analytical and communication skills, with a track record of turning data into clear business stories and influencing decisions.
  • Comfort working in an evolving environment, owning outcomes, and proactively seeking better ways to price, analyze, and manage complex books of business.
  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science or similar background requiring modeling, programming or quantitative analysis.
  • Generally attained ACAS and is working towards FCAS or recently attained FCAS.
  • Generally, six or more years of actuarial experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of actuarial business functions, statistical methods of analysis, actuarial models, actuarial software and databases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, analytical software and programming languages.
  • Should have basic competencies including command skills, strategic agility, delegation, motivating others, business perspective and accounting.
  • Should have highly-developed competencies in business understanding, problem solving, customer focus, dealing with ambiguity, drive for results, and learning ability.

  • Leads onboarding and training for new associates on standard work processes.
  • Assists in creating new training materials.
  • Applies data mining techniques used to identify new relationships in data and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Has expert ability or knowledge of modeling, validation, and predictive modeling.
  • Explores the use of new software packages and makes recommendations.
