About The Position

The JM Family College Internship Program offers college students meaningful work experiences related to their studies. Interns contribute to their teams, learn about JM Family’s companies and culture, and develop skills through learning opportunities and networking events. Interns engage in department initiatives and gain hands-on experience with specific projects or tasks.

The Actuarial Services Intern gains experience with essential actuarial activities while supporting the team’s analytical and business needs. The internship is intended to strengthen the local actuarial community and help develop future associates. The ideal candidate is available to work full-time during the Summer Internship Program, May 24, 2027, through July 30, 2027. Work arrangements may be flexible depending on business needs and are subject to associate performance, business need, and manager discretion.

Requirements

• Be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or other degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university, focused in a relevant field; candidates in related fields will also be considered.
• Have completed at least one semester of coursework.
• Be pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of at least one actuarial exam, Exam P or FM.
• Experience with or knowledge of Excel, SQL, SAS, Python, or Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine data reconciliation to support actuarial analysis.
• Run basic loss reserving models and assist with related actuarial work.
• Assist in preparing exhibits for state rate filings.
• Collaborate with actuarial, finance, and business teams on special projects.
• Support data analysis using Excel, SQL, SAS, Python, or Power BI.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for management.
• Present project findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship.
