About The Position

As a consultant in Oliver Wyman's P&C Actuarial Insurance Practice, you will engage in transformative client projects, leveraging your technical expertise and strategic insights to develop, validate, and operationalize actuarial models, methodologies, and workflows. As part of a globally connected practice, you will collaborate with colleagues and clients across geographies, with opportunities to contribute to and deliver projects on a global basis. This role offers the chance to work with multidisciplinary teams and cutting-edge technologies, including AI, to deliver impactful solutions across a wide range of actuarial disciplines, including pricing, reserving, and capital modeling.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of actuarial experience.
  • Commitment to pursuing CAS actuarial credentials with a minimum of 5 passed actuarial exams.
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities; intellectual curiosity to meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Experience utilizing AI technologies for modeling and analytics.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, R, SQL)

Responsibilities

  • Lead discrete workstreams within client engagements, applying actuarial expertise, advanced analytics, and structured problem-solving to address complex insurance challenges. Support initiatives such as actuarial modernization, process automation, AI-enabled actuarial workflows, model transformation, data modernization, and operating model improvement.
  • Perform sophisticated analyses across large and complex datasets, identifying insights, trends, and opportunities that inform actuarial, operational, and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop, evaluate, and refine actuarial methodologies, assumptions, models, and analyses, bringing sound technical judgment and ensuring outputs are robust, well-governed, and fit for purpose.
  • Work directly with client stakeholders to understand business needs, communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly, and translate analytical findings into practical recommendations and executive-ready insights.
  • Partner with actuaries, engineers, data scientists, and other specialists to translate actuarial requirements into scalable technical solutions, validate outputs, and support implementation.
  • Take ownership for the quality and accuracy of assigned deliverables, challenging data, assumptions, methodologies, and model outputs while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new tools, methodologies, automation, AI-enabled solutions, and delivery approaches that modernize actuarial work, improve efficiency and insight, and expand the capabilities of the insurance consulting practice.
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, provide guidance to junior colleagues, and contribute to a culture of learning, innovation, and high performance.
