Actuarial Internship

Standard Insurance CompanyPortland, OR
Remote

About The Position

The Standard's summer internship program for future actuaries provides opportunities for students to gain exposure to the actuarial profession and the company’s culture. Interns will learn about various insurance products and actuarial functions, work with actuaries from across the organization, and gain insight into other operational areas including IT, Underwriting, HR, Claims, and Marketing through leader lunches and speaker series. The program operates in a flexibility-first environment that combines remote work with a focus on building diverse communities and strong teams. Interns will be assigned to one of several actuarial teams and may work on tasks such as product development, pricing, valuation, experience studies, financial reporting, systems testing, process automation, and modeling. Interns work full-time and the internship is expected to be fully remote, with potential for office visits. A key component of the internship is a final presentation by each intern to actuarial leaders, outlining their projects and learnings. Interns graduating within a year of completion may be considered for the actuarial student rotation program.
