About The Position

As an Activity Assistant, you’ll work with the Engagement Director to make residents’ lives more enjoyable through fun and engaging activities. You will help create experiences that support residents’ physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being and contribute to a vibrant community.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
A genuine interest in connecting with seniors and an ability to build rapport with them.
Creativity and the ability to plan and lead activities suited to different interests and abilities.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and kindness.
Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and evenings.
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Criminal background screening is required.
Candidates must show valid proof of full COVID-19 vaccination before commencing work or commit to obtaining full vaccination within 30 days of commencing work, unless granted an approved exemption.

Nice To Haves

Some coursework in recreation, gerontology, or a related area.

Responsibilities

Work with the Engagement Director to plan and lead activities, including exercise programs, educational sessions, art projects, trips, spiritual gatherings, speaker events, and music.
Connect with residents personally and understand their preferences and needs to make activities enjoyable and meaningful.
Help plan trips outside the community, organize details, and support residents’ safety and enjoyment.
Create a warm, inclusive environment where residents can make friends and discover new interests.
Keep records of resident participation and feedback to help improve programs.
Share creative ideas to keep programs exciting and relevant to seniors.
