About The Position

The Winter Activities Specialist promotes the Gospel of Jesus Christ by leading safe, engaging recreational activities for campers and guests. Activities may include high-adventure programs, archery, axe throwing, paintball, lifeguarding, tubing, broom hockey, an escape room, a mechanical bull, snow tube runs, ice skating, an indoor climbing wall, and recreation games. The role includes preparing activity areas and equipment, overseeing scheduled activities, instructing campers and guests in activity use, and completing cleanup and repairs. This is a casual, as-needed position in Monterey, Massachusetts.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment to live in staff housing, or be a high school graduate who is a dependent resident of Hume Lake in staff housing.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks and work indoors or outdoors as needed.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work under supervision.
• Must agree with and support Hume Christian Camps’ Statement of Faith.
• Must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to share the Gospel through word and deed.
• Ability to stand, walk, run, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Physical ability to climb and support campers on the ropes course, with the agility and endurance needed to oversee fast-paced outdoor programs.
• Ability to live and work in extreme weather conditions, at high altitude, and in small living quarters.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in refereeing or camp activities is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe and engaging recreational activities for campers and guests.
• Instruct campers and guests on the use of activities and equipment.
• Prepare activity areas and equipment and oversee scheduled activities.
• Complete activity cleanup and repairs.
• Follow safety procedures and supervisors’ directions.
• Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude and contribute to a Christ-centered team environment.
• Represent Hume Christian Camps’ values and mission through conduct, attitude, and service.
• Share the Gospel through word and deed.
