About The Position

29 Acres is a nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). 29 Acres focuses on using research-based practices and programming to make meaningful and measured progress. At 29 Acres, we prioritize individualized programming, setting specific goals and outcomes tailored to the unique needs of our clients. 29 Acre’s living community is located in Crossroads, Texas approximately 30 miles north of Dallas. Located near the shores of Lake Lewisville, 29 Acres is a quiet community yet is only minutes away from the University of North Texas and all the major services and activities of the Dallas metroplex. It is easily accessible from several highways serving the North Texas area. The Activities Director is responsible for scheduling, coordinating and implementing community activities and events, on and off campus for residents at 29 Acres. This role includes creating a weekly calendar of community events available to residents at 29 Acres and ensuring engaging, safe, and well-organized activities for residents and staff.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license and possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to support staff and clients with scheduled events on-campus.
  • Comfortable leading groups and supervising staff participation
  • Basic computer skills (Google Suite, Slack, LifeLoop preferred)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work both indoors and outdoors
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Responsibilities

  • Create a weekly calendar of meaningful leisure and recreational activities for residents at 29 Acres
  • Procure the necessary materials for those activities.
  • Attend, lead and Encourage participation at scheduled activities.
  • Create attendance sheets for all scheduled activities
  • Ensure that scheduled activities are fresh and updated and do not become stale.
  • Print and organize calendar and all necessary event materials and deliver to houses, residents and staff.
  • Be available to lead activities and events evenings and weekends.
  • Add new upcoming activities to the monthly community calendar
  • Take and post pictures of events, activities, and community engagement
  • Create and schedule Slack reminders for activities and events
  • Set up and prepare the environment for events and groups
  • Clean up after each event or activity or coordinate with property management to assist with clean up
  • Assist with large Community Activity Events on Saturdays
  • Re-evaluate program supply levels and restock
  • Assess effectiveness of calendar, reminders, and communication systems and make recommendations for improvement
