About The Position

The Activities Director develops, organizes, and coordinates center and community resources to provide comprehensive activity services and programs that meet the needs and interests of each resident. The role includes assessing residents and creating individual recreation plans, developing facility activity calendars, communicating programs to residents and stakeholders, managing volunteers, maintaining documentation, supporting the Resident’s Council, setting work priorities, and serving on the QAA committee.

Requirements

Currently licensed or registered in the state of practice as an Activities Director, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist (OT), or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), as required by the state.
At least two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years.
At least one year of full-time experience in a health care activities program.

Nice To Haves

Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred.

Responsibilities

Interview and assess residents before their initial Care Plan Conference; document findings in the medical record, develop an individual recreation plan, and participate in Interdisciplinary Care Plan meetings.
Update assessments and plans as needed and as required by state or federal regulations.
Develop monthly recreation program calendars that reflect and meet residents’ needs.
Communicate facility programs to residents, staff, families, and volunteers.
Manage the facility Volunteer Program.
Maintain departmental documentation reflecting services provided and resident progress toward goals.
Coordinate with social services to facilitate the organization and continued development of a Resident’s Council.
Make job assignments and set priorities.
Serve as a member of the QAA committee.
