About The Position

The Activities Director develops, organizes, and coordinates center and community resources to provide comprehensive activity services and programs that meet each resident’s needs and interests. The role includes assessing residents, creating and updating individualized recreation plans, developing monthly program calendars, communicating programs to residents and others, managing volunteers, maintaining departmental documentation, and contributing to care planning and quality assurance.

Requirements

Hold a current license or registration in the state of practice, as required by the state, as an Activities Director, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist (OT), or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
At least two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years.
At least one year of full-time experience in a health care activities program.

Nice To Haves

Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is preferred.

Responsibilities

Interview and assess residents before the initial Care Plan Conference; document information in the medical record, develop an individual recreation plan, and participate in Interdisciplinary Care Plan meetings.
Update assessments and plans as needed and as required by state or federal regulations.
Develop monthly recreation program calendars that reflect and meet facility residents’ needs.
Communicate facility programs to residents, staff, family, and volunteers.
Manage the facility Volunteer Program.
Maintain departmental documentation reflecting services provided and resident progress toward goals.
Coordinate with social services to facilitate residents’ organization and continued development of a Resident’s Council.
Make job assignments and set priorities.
Serve as a member of the QAA committee.
