About The Position

The Activities Assistant at CarDon and Associates enhances residents’ quality of life by organizing and facilitating engaging, meaningful activities. The role promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being through programs tailored to residents’ interests and abilities. The Activities Assistant works with residents to help ensure activities are inclusive and accessible, and collaborates with care staff and family members to create a supportive and enjoyable environment. The position contributes to residents’ happiness and satisfaction within the community.

Requirements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate individuals with varying levels of ability.
• Commitment to promoting dignity, respect, and independence for all residents.

Nice To Haves

• Certification or training in activity coordination, recreational therapy, or a related field.
• First Aid qualification.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to care environments.
• Experience working with individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver recreational and therapeutic activities that meet residents’ interests and needs.
• Encourage resident participation and foster an atmosphere that promotes social engagement and personal development.
• Help organize special events, outings, and celebrations.
• Maintain records of activities, attendance, and resident feedback to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Collaborate with care staff to align activities with individual care plans and support residents’ physical and emotional well-being.
