About The Position

The Activities Assistant creates engaging experiences for residents and encourages participation in community activities. The role is suited to someone who enjoys spending time with older adults, values arts and wellness, and brings a big-picture perspective. Activities include on- and off-site events and outings to theaters, museums, sporting events, restaurants, and other destinations. The position is part-time, with a rotating two-week schedule and every other weekend and holiday off. Pay starts at $17.50–$18.50 per hour, with the opportunity to earn more based on experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Energetic, personable, positive, enthusiastic, creative, and imaginative leadership style.
Ability to communicate intentions and directions to residents and co-workers.
Active listening and empathy.
Strong motivational skills to positively influence resident participation.
Valid driver's license with no major violations in the past three years.
Ability to perform the physical tasks required for the role.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in group socialization or recreational programs is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Generate ideas for new and favorite experiences.
Encourage residents to take part in a dynamic lifestyle that promotes pride and purpose.
Accompany residents on outings to theaters, museums, sporting events, restaurants, and other destinations.
Work with the Activities Coordinator and/or Associate to prepare and plan on- and off-site events and activities.
Guide volunteers to create meaningful impact.
Promote a positive, enthusiastic environment that motivates resident engagement.
