About The Position

As an Activities Assistant at Westgate, you will help plan and implement recreational and therapeutic activities for residents. You will contribute creative ideas and enthusiasm to create a positive, lively atmosphere and engaging experiences for seniors. The role includes supporting residents who need additional assistance, encouraging community and social interaction, and documenting participation. Training will be provided. Westgate is an affiliate of National Health Care Associates, a family-run organization whose centers provide short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and post-hospital care.

Requirements

Compassionate and empathetic nature.
Interest in the therapeutic needs of older adults and chronically ill people, with the ability to work with both.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a long-term care or senior living setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning, organizing, and executing a diverse range of activities for residents.
Engage residents in arts and crafts, games, music, and other recreational programs.
Collaborate with the Activities Director to develop and implement a monthly activities calendar.
Provide one-on-one support for residents who may need additional assistance.
Foster a sense of community and social interaction among residents.
Document and maintain records of residents' participation in activities.
