ACTIVITIES AIDE
About The Position
Activities Aides encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment, and help improve residents’ daily living skills. Training is provided. The primary purpose of the position is to assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs in accordance with residents’ care plans. This part-time position is for 20 or more hours per week, requires work every other weekend, and includes evening meal support. It operates in a healthcare setting and routinely involves contact with residents who have contagious diseases. The employee must be self-motivated and able to work independently; experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs.
- Observe residents’ attendance, behavior, and level of involvement during programs.
- Encourage residents’ participation as appropriate.
- Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
- Participate in discharge planning and in developing and implementing activity care plans and resident assessments.
- Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.
- Assist in arranging transportation for outings.
- Coordinate activities with other departments and staff.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the activity department.
- Perform administrative duties, including completing necessary forms and reports.
- Provide evening meal support.
