About The Position

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounts payable functions of the organization. This is an entry to mid-level position suited for a detail-oriented individual with a foundational understanding of accounting principles and office operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 0–3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to create and manage spreadsheets for tracking and reporting
  • Experience with general office equipment (copier, scanner, multi-line phone, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and determine appropriate resolution
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time during the workday
  • Mobility within the work facility, including movement between departments or workstations as needed
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of items up to 30 lbs
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers for keyboard and computer operation

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or coursework in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems a plus

Responsibilities

  • Process and code vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Match purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documents for payment processing
  • Assist with weekly check runs and electronic payment processing
  • Maintain and organize vendor files and records
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Respond to internal and external vendor inquiries
  • Assist with month-end closing activities as needed
  • Perform data entry and maintain accuracy within the accounting system
  • Support the accounting team with general administrative tasks as assigned
  • Collaborate with purchasing, receiving, and other internal departments to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure accurate and timely payment processing
