About The Position

The candidate must be able to teach advanced undergraduate courses in the specialization in accounting and graduate courses in the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program in the fields of audit and financial accounting. The candidate’s teaching load could also include courses in management accounting and other courses as per the school needs. This is a five-year contract, which will lead to an open-ended appointment afterwards, during which the candidate must teach and work an equivalent of 7 courses (21 credits) per academic year.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. in the field of accounting.
  • Canadian CPA designation held for at least three (3) years.
  • Acquired, during graduate studies, one of the new competency areas of the 2022 CPA Canada 2.0 Competency Map: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) or Indigenous culture.
  • Hold a Canadian CPA professional designation through a post-graduate accredited program, achieved since 2013.
  • Demonstrate recent (within last five (5) years) professional experience in audit (including audit of large organizations).
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS, ASPE, NFPO, and Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Recent (within last five (5) years) teaching experience at the university level in the field of audit or financial accounting.
  • Familiarity with the use of multidisciplinary cases in accounting.
  • Courses to be taught in English.
  • Must be available to teach during the day.

  • A passive understanding of French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach advanced undergraduate courses in accounting.
  • Teach graduate courses in the CPA program in audit and financial accounting.
  • Potentially teach courses in management accounting and other courses as per school needs.
  • Assist the School (Program Director) transition its CPA program to the new 2027 CPA professional program.
  • Help develop the experiential learning components required to meet the competency map in the areas of EDI and Indigenous culture.
  • Deliver proposed courses in the teaching mode indicated by the Office of the Registrar (either in-person, bi-modal, hybrid or online. Note that online courses will be fully online synchronous live).
