About The Position

The DHHS Financial Service Center is seeking an Accounting Technician to join the Accounts Payable Team. This position’s primary responsibilities include reviewing and reconciling invoices and supporting documentation to ensure accurate and timely payments. It involves leveraging Excel to organize, analyze, and pivot data to streamline invoice preparation and processing. The role also ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, federal requirements, and state statutes. Additionally, the Accounting Technician will conduct quality assurance reviews and approve invoices in accordance with established accounting procedures, and collaborate with team members to improve processes, resolve issues, and support department goals. Requirements

  • Entry-level to intermediate education, training, and/or experience in accounting or another closely related field demonstrating competency applying accounting principles, reviewing and processing business transactions, and preparing reports.
  • Possess good critical thinking skills, be flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of Accounting Practices and Controls
  • Prior experience and/ or education which demonstrates knowledge of GAAP/ GASB, analyzing accounting data and accounting reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile invoices and supporting documentation to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Leverage Excel to organize, analyze, and pivot data to streamline invoice preparation and processing.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, federal requirements, and state statutes.
