About The Position

This role is responsible for managing daily accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Accounting Technician II will handle assigned general ledgers, journal entries, and monthly/yearly closings, ensuring adherence to GAAP and company policies. This position also involves supporting payroll and A/P processes, managing accounting projects such as audit responses and reconciliations, and coordinating annual 1099 submissions. The role requires updating ledgers, researching complex financial questions, creating and maintaining spreadsheets for financial records, and identifying process improvements. The employee is expected to attend work regularly and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or business administration, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with no more than 1 point and no DUI’s.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial reports, GAAP, and managerial accounting concepts.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality with the utmost integrity.
  • Advanced computer skills with Office 365 with specific expertise in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to think critically, independently, and utilize problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pivot between multiple priorities and projects as needed.
  • Must be detail-oriented and consistently accurate in all aspects of work, including data entry and organization skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage one's own time and the team's time to meet deadlines and priorities.
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills.
  • Clearly convey information, expectations, and feedback to team members.
  • Review and manage daily accounting functions to provide accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Responsible for assigned scope of general ledgers, journal entries, and closing of monthly/yearly cycles.
  • Ensure accounting practices are aligned with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
  • Act as backup for the payroll specialist, handling assigned payroll tasks such as reviewing semi-monthly payroll and certified payrolls before processing.
  • Provide support for A/P processes as needed, including monthly A/P review and reconciliations.
  • Responsible for project management within the accounting department, including assigned scope of audit responses, payroll reconciliations, and data reviews.
  • Coordinate annual submission of 1099s.
  • Update assigned ledgers and financial reporting.
  • Research and interpret data for complex financial questions and presents finding to management.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets for the purpose of auditing and reconciling financial records and statements.
  • Recognize weaknesses in processes and procedures and recommend courses of action for improvement.
  • Attend work on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
