About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to audit, analyze, process, and manage the disbursement of travel expenses and travel advances for the Department of Adult Correction. This position also provides technical assistance to DAC agencies regarding travel policies, fiscal procedures, and State Budget Manual travel guidelines to ensure compliance with state regulations.

Requirements

Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of accounting experience; OR High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of Accounting Methods, procedures, and accounting practices.
Knowledge of accounting and other software (e.g. ERP, Excel, Word, Access).
Experience Understanding, interpreting, and applying the laws and regulations pertaining to financial records.
Experience identifying and correcting routine and recurring financial problems referring to more complex problems to a higher level.
Experience presenting financial information clearly and concisely in oral and written form.

Responsibilities

Processing employee academic program refunds, educational reimbursement claims, extradition reimbursements, motor fleet invoices, and employee moving expenses.
Reconciling and approving WEX and P-Card transactions in the NCFS EXP module and ensure accurate upload to the Invoice module for payment processing.
Analyzing financial data, reconciling reports, and interfacing accounting data with the financial system.
Ensuring accuracy and compliance for travel reimbursements, which are subject to review by internal and external auditors.
