About The Position

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for full-time Accounting Technician 3 located in Juneau, Alaska. The Accounting Technician 3 provides day-to-day oversight and assists in keeping foster care, childcare, adoption, and out-of-state providers paid in a timely and accurate manner. You will be a resource for the field workers and care providers to ensure that payment regulations and departmental policy is properly employed in making payments. Extensive knowledge of the Online Resources for the Children of Alaska (ORCA) system and a strong working knowledge of the state accounting (IRIS) system are required in order to independently audit, reconcile and accurately record transactions.

Requirements

  • Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Online Resources for the Children of Alaska (ORCA) system.
  • Strong working knowledge of the state accounting (IRIS) system.
  • Valid ID.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college.
  • Post secondary education from an accredited college with at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
  • Post secondary education from an accredited college with at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
  • An associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college with at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day oversight and assists in keeping foster care, childcare, adoption, and out-of-state providers paid in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Serves as a resource for field workers and care providers to ensure payment regulations and departmental policy are properly employed in making payments.
  • Independently audits, reconciles, and accurately records transactions using the ORCA and IRIS systems.
