What you will be doing: If you are looking to build a strong foundation in state accounting while making an immediate impact, this Accounting Technician 1 position offers an exciting opportunity to support essential financial operations within the Department of Health. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience processing accounts payable and travel transactions, reconciling financial documents, working in statewide accounting systems, and helping ensure vendors and employees are paid accurately and on time. You will work as part of a collaborative and supportive team where you can develop your knowledge of state fiscal procedures, travel regulations, and accounting practices while receiving guidance from experienced accounting staff. This position offers a fast-paced and engaging environment where your attention to detail, customer service, and problem-solving skills will directly contribute to maintaining critical services during an important departmental transition. Requirements

  • One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service – Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Clerical – Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms.
  • Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
