About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Alaska International Airport Systems (AIAS), is seeking to fill multiple Accounting Technician 1 positions. These roles are crucial for managing accounts receivables and payables, ensuring accurate financial transactions, and supporting the division's mission to 'Keep Alaska Flying and Thriving.' The AIAS, comprising Ted Stevens Anchorage and Fairbanks International Airports, plays a vital role in Alaska's economy and transportation infrastructure. This position is critical for properly, accurately, and timely accounting for millions of dollars in AIAS revenue. The Accounting Technician acts as a 'first responder' to identify and notify others of data inconsistencies or noncompliance with contract, state, and federal requirements, and works with others to resolve these issues.

Requirements

  • One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods.

  • Must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542), which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check.
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation, along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment.

  • Managing utility payments.
  • Navigating complex contract amendments.
  • Tackling duplicate payment reports.
  • Resolving issues and maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Providing essential administrative support.
  • Driving efficiency and accuracy across receivables and payables.
  • Identifying and notifying others of data inconsistencies or noncompliance with contract, state, and federal requirements.
