About The Position

FACES SF is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to temporarily join their finance team. This position is crucial for supporting the organization's financial operations, including general accounting, data analysis, payroll, grant reporting, and audit preparation. The role involves close collaboration with the finance team, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, assisting with internal and external audits, and upholding the organization's financial integrity.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Ability to meet and maintain required state, federal, local, and CDC standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, and CPR).

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1-3 years of nonprofit accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct (strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and Emburse Certify for expense reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll, journal entries, including submission and review of contributions to 403(b) retirement plans, FSA, and commuter benefits.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable aging, and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Assist in monthly and year-end close processes, perform bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate records of restricted and unrestricted funds, as well as grant expenditures.
  • Analyze financial data and maintain reports to ensure data integrity across platforms, while streamlining people system integration and improving overall data efficiency.
  • Compile audit sampling packages for internal and external auditors.
  • Assist with preparation of reports and financial audits, preparation of year-end reporting and ad hoc financial projects, preparation of IRS Form 990 and annual tax documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Provide feedback and clerical support on accounting policies and procedures in use or proposed by the Senior Director of Finance or other departments.
  • Maintain electronic filing systems for financial records.
  • Manage monthly corporate credit card reports and reconciliations.
