This temporary position is located in 2000 Yonkers Road- Wake County with the Department of Public Safety. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $28.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. Management Preferences: The purpose of this position is to review and process direct and purchase-order invoices for payment. The employee will utilize the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) to research, enter, and pay invoices for goods and services for DPS divisions. In this position, the employee will have proficiency in auditing payment requests for accuracy via Smartsheet. Additionally, this position will assist with Captures (Utility Billing Management System) and any other AP-related items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or other curriculum that would provide a core curriculum in financial management coursework from an appropriately accredited institution; or
  • Associate’s degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of accounting or auditing experience; or
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four (4) years of experience as an accounting technician, three of which must have been at an advanced technical level or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process direct and purchase-order invoices for payment.
  • Utilize the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) to research, enter, and pay invoices for goods and services for DPS divisions.
  • Auditing payment requests for accuracy via Smartsheet.
  • Assist with Captures (Utility Billing Management System) and any other AP-related items.
