About The Position

The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in maintaining the financial accuracy and integrity of The Ground and its affiliated entities, which span multiple industries including agriculture, hospitality, catering, and accommodations. This part-time position (schedule can be flexible) reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for AP filing and processing, general accounting tasks, managing vendor and account setup and supporting general accounting operations across entities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-entity environment where collaboration and accuracy are essential.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or multi-industry environment.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online a plus) and A/P platforms (experience with Bill.com and Spend & Expense a plus).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and reconciliation processes.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to hospitality, agriculture, or multi-location business accounting.
  • Familiarity with complex point-of-sale revenue reconciliation (e.g., Toast, Square).
  • Experience managing intercompany transactions and allocations.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable processing for all entities which includes Grounded Hospitality, The Ground, Tabula Rasa Farms, Ground Market and Grounded Land.
  • Manage accounting emails and communications between employees and vendors.
  • Manage new credit card app integration via Spend & Expense in the Bill.com system, check all receipts submitted and support Staff Accountant in preparing multiple entity credit card reconciliations.
  • Assist team in month end close and journal entries.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, update records, accurate tracking for prepaid deposits, and assist with AP setup and maintenance.
  • Scan and file general AP, mail and notices.
  • Implement all new and existing accounting policies, methods and procedures to enhance the department's workflow and efficiency.
  • Support Accounting Manager and Staff Accountant as needed.
  • Prepare and reconcile 1099’s and process year-end reporting using Yearly.
  • Maintain organized documentation for audits, internal reviews, and external reporting.
  • Assist with third-party commerce reconciliations and intercompany revenue sales tracking.
