Accounting & Payroll Specialist

Cascadia Global SecurityKent, WA
$55,000 - $75,000Onsite

About The Position

We are seeking an Accounting & Payroll Specialist to own accounts payable and payroll, and to be a key contributor to general and month-end accounting for a rapidly scaling family of companies. This role offers the latitude to fix processes and a clear path to increased ownership. The company provides room, support, and guidance for career growth towards controller, FP&A analyst, or other leadership positions. This position is unique in shared services, supporting multiple companies, providing exposure to both service and technology business accounting practices and the opportunity to build financial processes for both. The role involves end-to-end AP processing in Ramp, administering the corporate card program, running payroll in Paycom, and resolving payroll and vendor issues. In general and month-end accounting, responsibilities include preparing journal entries, accruals, and prepaid schedules, reconciling accounts, supporting month-end close, building cash flow projections, and overseeing multi-state sales and use tax filings. A key aspect of the role is process improvement, including eliminating manual work, optimizing systems like Ramp and Paycom, building useful reporting for leadership, and proactively identifying and solving problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on accounting experience
  • At least one year of accounting experience in AP, payroll, general ledger, or reconciliations
  • Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and cleaning up messy data
  • Accuracy and follow-through. You catch your own mistakes, and you close your own loops.
  • Able to work in-office in Kent, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for occasional travel, less than 10% of the time, to meet with teams in Texas and Arizona.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Ramp, Paycom, QuickBooks, or comparable AP, payroll, or ERP platforms is a plus.
  • Multi-entity or shared services accounting exposure
  • Month-end close experience
  • A track record of automating or redesigning a process. Excel macros, Power Query, SQL, BI dashboards, or even a checklist that saved the team three hours a month all count.
  • Experience preparing and filing multi-state sales tax returns, or equivalent hands-on exposure to state and local tax compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Process AP end to end in Ramp, including vendor setup, coding, approvals, and payment runs
  • Administer the corporate card program in Ramp
  • Run payroll in Paycom, bi-weekly for hourly employees and semi-monthly for salaried employees
  • Research and resolve payroll and vendor issues before they become fire drills
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and prepaid schedules
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts
  • Support month-end close alongside our third-party accounting firm
  • Build cash flow projections in conjunction with the Controller, VP, and President
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of multi-state sales and use tax filings using integrated automation software
  • Find the manual, repetitive work in your own week and eliminate it
  • Get more out of Ramp and Paycom than we do today, and help evaluate and implement new systems as we grow
  • Build and improve reporting that leadership actually uses
  • Bring us problems along with proposed fixes
  • Oversee continued automation and efficiency as volume grows
  • Cross-train across entities so you understand the full financial picture
  • Grow into the close, into systems ownership, and help shape whatever the next version of this department needs

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision
  • Complimentary life insurance
