About The Position

Jones-Hamilton Co. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting & Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working with payroll, accounts payable, inventory reconciliation, and financial reporting processes. As an Accounting & Payroll Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining financial records, supporting audits, and helping drive operational excellence across our accounting functions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in payroll and accounts payable or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Must pass drug screening as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and bonus payroll using the HRIS system.
  • Manage payroll deductions and garnishments.
  • Manage employer HSA contributions.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
  • Perform regular inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy of inventory records.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in inventory counts, collaborating with internal and external parties as needed.
  • Collaborate with the inventory management team to improve inventory accuracy and processes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist with annual finance audit.
  • Prepare and maintain various accounting reconciliations and records.
  • Support the accounting team with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
