About The Position

PointOne is reinventing how law firms operate. Our AI-powered timekeeper helps attorneys capture billable time automatically and provides rich insights that transform how legal work is managed. We’re a venture-backed startup (Y Combinator, Bessemer, 8VC, General Catalyst) made up of engineers (Google, Applied Intuition, Stanford) and ex-attorneys. Following an excellent seed round and rapid customer adoption, we’re expanding our customer success team to keep up with demand. This is the first dedicated accounting hire. You will own the monthly close and build the AR and AP functions from the ground up, not inherit them. The finance stack is modern and largely automated, and the expectation is that you keep it that way: when something breaks, you fix the process rather than adding a manual reconciliation. The scope is real and the leverage is high. Within one quarter you should be the person who knows the books better than anyone else in the company.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of accounting experience, either in Big 4 audit with technology clients or in-house at a fast-growing SaaS company.
  • Ability to close a month, defend all numbers, and reconcile a billing system to a General Ledger (GL).
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Willingness to learn SQL or have existing SQL knowledge, as much of the reporting lives in Postgres.
  • Ability to move extremely fast and build systems that drive decision-making for growth.
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and take extreme ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA is a plus.
  • SQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close, including every journal entry, every balance sheet reconciliation, the checklist, and the workpapers.
  • Set the close calendar and ensure it is met, with the goal of shortening it over time.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) functions including invoicing, collections cadence, dunning, aging, credit notes, reserves, and disputes.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP) functions including vendor onboarding and W-9s, approval thresholds, payment runs, expense policy, and 1099s.
  • Manage cash flow, including creating a 13-week rolling forecast and providing weekly actual versus forecast analysis with commentary on variances.
  • Perform bank reconciliations across all operating accounts.
  • Document processes as they are built to ensure preparedness for future diligence or audits.
