About The Position

Reducto is seeking a highly motivated, operationally minded Accounting Lead to shape its accounting operations. As the first in-house accounting hire, this role will partner closely with the VP of Finance & Ops to build accounting foundations and scale systems. The position requires a hands-on individual who can own the day-to-day accounting function, including participating in audits, closing books, and handling tax compliance. A key aspect of this role is the excitement for applying AI and automation within accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. The company utilizes scripts and AI agents for its finance operations and expects the Accounting Lead to further develop these capabilities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally a mix of Big 4 and in-house operational roles at high-growth SaaS or AI companies.
  • Experience closing the books independently.
  • Ability to build systems and procedures from scratch and bring structure to environments lacking it.
  • Extensive US GAAP knowledge, especially ASC 606, with the ability to reason about revenue recognition for metered usage.
  • Deep experience with ERP and accounting systems, including personal ownership of at least one implementation or migration.
  • Experience managing close, audit, AP, AR, payroll, and tax compliance in a growing company.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and experience in applying AI to automate accounting tasks.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Direct communication skills and comfort being the sole accountant in a room.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and an interest in data infrastructure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience taking a startup through its first audit.
  • Experience implementing an ERP at a company under 200 people.
  • Experience preparing a company for multi-entity or international expansion.
  • CPA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close end to end, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and flux review, with a goal of shortening the cycle.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and balance sheet support.
  • Own revenue accounting for a usage-based business, including ASC 606 for consumption, committed contracts, and prepaid credit drawdown, and support billing practices.
  • Own accounting systems, and lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of the ERP, including migration from the current GL.
  • Oversee accounts payable and corporate spend policies, and support collections activities.
  • Own payroll accounting, including domestic payroll and international contractors, and partner with People Ops on compensation execution.
  • Manage outsourced bookkeeping partners and external providers (tax advisors, bankers, insurance carriers, auditors), including setting scope, reviewing work, and ensuring quality.
  • Support audit readiness, documentation, schedules, and internal controls.
  • Own compliance and filings, including federal, state, and local income tax coordination, sales tax, multi-state registrations, and 1099s.
  • Build towards an automated close by using AI to reduce manual work in reconciliations, accruals, flux analysis, and reporting.
