About The Position

Holyoke Community College's Business Department is seeking an educator passionate about teaching accounting and business-related courses. The ideal candidate will bring real-world accounting experience to life for students, communicate complex concepts clearly, embrace innovation and technology, and contribute to a supportive departmental culture. This role involves teaching in various modalities (on-site, online, hybrid), developing innovative teaching methods, participating in curriculum development, integrating technology and accounting software, advising students, collaborating with colleagues, contributing to program assessment, building community and transfer partnerships, engaging in outreach activities, pursuing grant opportunities, and participating in college governance and activities. The faculty member will be supportive of students' learning goals, maintain academic integrity, foster inclusive learning environments, and promote the college's mission and values.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field.
Certified Public Accountant or other relevant professional certification.
Experience designing and teaching engaging courses, including online, hybrid, or in-person formats.
Demonstrated ability to apply inclusive, student-centered teaching practices and varied pedagogical strategies.
Ability to integrate technology into instruction, including QuickBooks and other accounting and business applications.
Willingness to teach across multiple modalities (on-campus, hybrid, and online).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Commitment to the mission of the community college.
Demonstrated success teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Post-Master’s credits or doctoral degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Demonstrated proficiency in community college teaching and online course delivery.
Experience teaching introductory and advanced accounting courses.
Experience using advanced accounting software and data analytics tools.
Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary instruction within the Business Department.
Experience fostering partnerships with community organizations or local businesses.

Responsibilities

Develop innovative methods for teaching accounting and business-related courses such as Principles of Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Computerized Accounting and Principles of Business.
Teach in all and any combination of modalities - On Site, Online and Hybrid, with emphasis on site.
Utilize active learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course in a variety of modalities.
Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement to meet current industry standards and credential requirements.
Remain abreast of ongoing developments and practices in their professional content area(s).
Integrate computer technology and relevant accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, data analytics tools and artificial intelligence) into coursework, as appropriate.
Provide student advising on academic, career, and transfer opportunities aligned with Business Department pathways.
Collaborate with colleagues within the department, across divisions, and through College Governance Committees and task forces.
Contribute to program assessment, general education outcomes assessment and student learning outcomes initiatives.
Work with the department to build community, internship, and university transfer partnerships.
Engage in enrollment, retention, and outreach activities in alignment with the department’s mission.
Pursue grant opportunities and other sustainability projects.
Actively participate in department, division and professional staff meetings as well as other components of college governance.
Participate in college programs and activities including holding office hours to support student success.
Focus on student learning outcomes.
Take into account the needs and abilities of the students.
Become familiar with academic and social support while making reasonable provisions to accommodate individual differences.
Maintain academic integrity, foster inclusive learning environments, and promote HCC’s mission and values.
