About The Position

Dominican University's Brennan School of Business seeks part-time Adjunct Faculty to teach one or more Accounting course sections during the Spring 2027 semester, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Available sections span introductory financial accounting, cost accounting, managerial accounting for MBA students, and financial reporting for the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program. Candidates may apply for a single section or indicate interest in multiple sections.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Accounting, or a Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting, from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated understanding of foundational accounting principles appropriate to introductory-level instruction.
  • Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) licensure, or an equivalent professional accounting credential such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), or EA (Enrolled Agent).
  • At least three to five years of professional experience in financial reporting, managerial accounting, auditing, corporate accounting, or a closely related field such as taxation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the application of accounting standards and reporting practices at a level appropriate for graduate instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior college-level teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching Accounting in person or online, preferably in an asynchronous format for online sections.
  • Experience using Canvas or another learning management system.
  • Relevant professional or applied experience in Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver course instruction consistent with the approved syllabus and learning outcomes.
  • Prepare instructional materials, assignments, and assessments appropriate to the discipline.
  • Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports student success.
  • Submit grades and required academic records accurately and on time.
  • Maintain reasonable availability to students, including scheduled office hours.
  • Respond to student communications in a timely manner.
  • Administer course evaluations.
  • Follow university academic policies and student accommodation procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Dean and the Department Chair regarding course delivery and academic matters.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $3,000 - $4,500 per course
  • Compensation is based on credentials, experience, course level, and credit hours.
