About The Position

The Westin Jackson, located in the heart of Mississippi’s capital city, is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join their Accounting Department team. This role involves supporting the finance department with various accounting tasks, including reconciling accounts, processing payments, and maintaining financial records. Requirements

  • Accounting experience.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or 2 to 3 years related experience and/or training in hotel Finance. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Accounts Payable Focused.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to compile facts and figures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Flexibility with scheduling.

Nice To Haves

  • Marriott brand experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and verify accuracy of Night Audit work, primarily receivables, including reconciliation of banquet check extensions, coding of banquets at cost, and review/routing of sales and promotion checks with back-up.
  • Record department administration phone calls and inform Director of Finance of any potential concerns.
  • Post city ledger payments in the property management system, reconcile and bill all city ledger accounts.
  • Perform follow-up billing and credit collection documentation, and inform Controller of any potential uncollectible accounts.
  • Reconcile credit card back-up to the General Cashier Summary and inform Controller of any discrepancies.
  • Bill out credit cards and maintain accurate and legible logs for all credit cards.
  • Set up new accounts in accordance with established credit policy.
  • Assist in reconciling open account status items.
  • Input General Cashier Summary and maintain binder.
  • File and distribute credit card cancellations, bulletins, and credit warnings.
  • Process and follow-up on all returned checks accepted as cash payment.
  • Record General Ledger and City Ledger reconciliations.
