About The Position

Our client, ACCES-VR, part of the NYS Dept. of Education, is seeking an Accounting Clerk for one of their teams. This is a temporary, in-office position located in White Plains, NY, expected to last approximately 6 months. The role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual to provide support to the accounting department, assisting with accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and other accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of reconciliations, payment processing, and the ability to manage vendor relationships. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers are essential.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years related accounting or bookkeeping experience required
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient software skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to learn programs specific to ACCES-VR
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct reconciliations of all accounts as needed
  • Process payments to vendors for the District Office
  • Correspond with and answer vendor questions
  • Monitor vendor accounts and process/cancel payments
  • Update and manage daily/weekly payment logs and spreadsheets
  • Compile and prepare financial data for budgetary purposes
  • Reconcile accounts with bank statements and control ledgers, resolving any discrepancies
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Administrative duties include filing, data entry, scanning, covering reception desk
