About The Position

The position of Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing routine duties related to accounting for the Finance Department. Performs a variety of accounting duties including processing accounts payable transactions, accounts receivable, prepaids, and accrued expenses; assists with reconciliations and certifications; maintains files; and performs other duties associated with the Company’s general ledger accounts.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a college or technical school; or 1 year of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution accounting or bookkeeping background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • General banking experience, methods and procedures related to Federal Funds transactions and bank account or general ledger reconciliation.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.

Responsibilities

  • Processes accounts payable transactions; assists with account payable inquiries; prepares and issues employee reimbursement expenses; reconciles accounts payable expense checks to issued statements and the general ledger; ensures accuracy and proper documentation of transactions; resolves problems as necessary and in a timely manner
  • Helps maintain prepaid expense schedules and reconciliations
  • Processes accounts receivable and assists with related inquiries
  • Supports the Treasury team with daily journal entries for cash funds movement
  • Helps processes credit card requests, employee signing authority requests, and maintains respective files and pertinent data for support
  • Assists with daily reconciliations for the department
  • Collaborates with ad hoc work for Controller and CFO

  • Complies with all bank policies and procedures and all applicable government regulations including, but not limited to BSA, AML, and OFAC regulations, staying current and knowledgeable of all policies, procedures and regulations related to the job functions and completing all assigned training on time, requesting additional training as needed to be proficient in all job responsibilities; cooperating with internal and external auditors and bank examiners by providing full cooperation and timely delivery of requested documentation and information; and reporting concerns about compliance to the Compliance Officer to enable prompt remediation.
  • Complies with Bank policies and procedures relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) guidance. Report suspicious activity to the BSA Department through a Suspicious Incident Report (SIR).
  • Adheres to privacy and information security policies, and ensure all sensitive internal and external customer information is properly secured and safeguarded. Use secure methods delivering client and/or confidential data by email.
