About The Position

The General Accounting department at Winter Sports, Inc. (WSI) manages all administrative and record-keeping tasks related to the company’s financial records. This includes accounting for two wholly owned subsidiaries, Big Mountain Development Corporation (BMDC) and Big Mountain Water Company (BMWC), as well as several homeowner associations. The General Accounting Office is located on the 2nd floor of the Hibernation House. The Accounting Assistant supports the General Accounting staff with all administrative and record-keeping tasks related to WSI’s accounting functions. Responsibilities include preparing bank deposits, preparing daily inventory transfers, assisting with accounts receivable and accounts payable, and general data entry.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work Thursday through Monday in the early mornings.
  • High school diploma, trade school, business school, or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of accounting required.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy and stressful environment with many interruptions.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong computer experience required, specifically in Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with fellow workers; ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
  • Ability to work within the framework of standard policies and procedures.
  • Must be dependable and able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Winter Sports, Inc. and Whitefish Mountain Resort is helpful.
  • Experience with Great Plains Dynamic accounting software is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Actively assists in achieving the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Prepares daily bank deposits for all companies, homeowner associations (HOAs), and bars.
  • Maintains inventory transfer sheets daily.
  • Helps maintain monthly inventory count sheets.
  • Assists the Accounts Receivable/HOA Bookkeeper in preparing, inputting, filing, and maintaining the accounts receivable sub-ledger, HOA, and bar books.
  • Assists the Accounts Payable Clerk in preparing, inputting, filing, and maintaining the accounts payable sub-ledger.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the performance of job-related duties.
  • Recognizes and maintains the highest degree of confidentiality for employees and customers in accordance with company policy.
  • Recognizes the responsibilities of co-workers and offers assistance when necessary.
  • Interacts calmly and tactfully with staff and customers, consistently maintaining fairness, impartiality, and objectivity.
  • Performs job functions necessary to satisfy the questions and concerns of both owners and administrative staff.
  • Assists the Controller with financial-related projects as assigned.
