About The Position

This program offers exposure to various dealership and corporate functions, including internal audit, fixed assets accounting, financial reporting, treasury, financial planning & analysis, and dealership general accounting. The program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the automotive industry and Asbury's operations, with opportunities to interact with senior and executive management across different departments.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance or a Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a different undergraduate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform audits of processes and controls at dealerships and corporate locations in accordance with GAAP, laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in conducting audits and SOX testing, and support external auditors.
  • Document and evaluate the design and effectiveness of Key SOX Controls.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording of acquisitions, transfers, and disposals.
  • Calculate and record depreciation and amortization schedules.
  • Prepare and reconcile fixed asset schedules for financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings and related earnings releases.
  • Research and document the Company’s position on technical accounting matters.
  • Analyze daily and forward-looking cash balances and liquidity calculations.
  • Analyze monthly changes in merchant banking fee activities.
  • Summarize quarterly peer performance and compare versus prior quarter/year.
  • Analyze monthly performance trends of the business, providing input into the monthly Asbury Financial Forecast process.
  • Ensure all general accounting transactions are processed timely, reconciliations and daily postings remain within Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Process transactions timely, accurately, and in accordance with Company standards and policies.
  • Execute bank entry postings, including vehicle receivables schedules.
  • Execute floor plan payoffs and flooring of vehicles received.
  • Execute finance reserve postings and ensures proper account classification.
  • Accrue floorplan interest for all dealerships, including loaner vehicles where applicable.
