About The Position

This position is part of a rotational program within the Accounting and Finance departments. The program offers exposure to various functions including Corporate Audit, Fixed Assets Accounting, Financial Reporting, Corporate Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Dealership Support Services (DSS) General Accounting, and Dealership Accounting. The goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of Asbury's financial operations and develop future leaders within the organization. Rotational analysts will interact with various levels of management, including Senior and Executive Management.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance or a Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a different undergraduate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform audits of processes and controls at dealerships and corporate locations in accordance with GAAP, laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in conducting audits and SOX testing, and support External Auditors.
  • Document and evaluate the design and effectiveness of Key SOX Controls.
  • Complete Audit Workpapers in accordance with Internal Audit Department Standards.
  • Assist with the development and publication of Internal Audit Department Reporting.
  • Become knowledgeable of Asbury Corporate functions and the automotive industry.
  • Assist with executing EY Corporate Walkthroughs and documentation.
  • Execute Corporate Audit Program audit steps across all Corporate functional areas.
  • Develop effective relationships with Asbury Executive Management, Department Heads and team members.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring all acquisitions, transfers, and disposals are accurately recorded.
  • Monitor asset additions and disposals to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Calculate and record depreciation and amortization schedules in alignment with applicable accounting standards.
  • Analyze the impact of depreciation and amortization on financial statements.
  • Update asset valuations and useful life estimates as needed.
  • Prepare and reconcile fixed asset schedules for financial reporting purposes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy in fixed asset reporting.
  • Collaborate with auditors during financial audits, providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Develop and maintain fixed asset management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Stay informed of changes in accounting standards that impact fixed assets.
  • Manage the disposal or retirement of fixed assets, ensuring proper documentation and financial accounting.
  • Analyze gain or loss on asset disposals and reflect in financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings and related earnings releases, including preparation and review of supporting work papers.
  • Assist in the preparation of all transaction-related SEC reporting requirements (8-K, debt offerings, equity offerings, etc.).
  • Assist in researching and documenting the Company’s position on technical accounting matters.
  • Assist with the accounting for acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Assist in the support of Asbury’s company-wide SOX program and the coordination with Internal Audit and our external auditors.
  • Support quarterly reviews and the annual audit by our external audit firm.
  • Assist with equity, stock compensation, lease accounting, and interest rate swaps and other accounting matters.
  • Assist with the annual impairment testing of the Company’s goodwill and franchise rights intangible assets.
  • Prepare work papers supporting key monthly close processes and analyses.
  • Analyze daily and forward-looking cash balances and liquidity calculations.
  • Analyze monthly changes in merchant banking fee activities highlighting key drivers in expenses versus budget.
  • Summarize quarterly peer performance and compare versus prior quarter/year.
  • Analyze monthly performance trends of the business, providing input into the monthly Asbury Financial Forecast process.
  • Participate in ad hoc analysis of store level operational performance.
  • Ensure all general accounting transactions are processed timely, reconciliations and daily postings remain within Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service with Asbury’s dealerships and customers.
  • Work on efficiency gains utilizing current technology advancements.
  • Ensure general accounting daily processing meets deadlines.
  • Execute processes to ensure compliance with SOX controls.
  • Process transactions timely, accurately, and in accordance with Company standards and policies.
  • Work with External Auditors and Internal Audit to fulfill audit requests.
  • Execute bank entry postings, including vehicle receivables schedules.
  • Execute floor plan payoffs and flooring of vehicles received.
  • Execute finance reserve postings and ensure proper account classification.
  • Execute DSS’s role in F&I cancellations and postings in a timely manner.
  • Prepare journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Process manufacturer payments through manufacturer website where applicable.
  • Accrue floorplan interest for all dealerships, including loaner vehicles where applicable.
