About The Position

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is hiring an Accounting Analyst for its Incentives, Benefits & Reconciliation Accounting department. The role supports employee and retiree benefit accounting, prepares journal entries and account reconciliations, and performs variance analysis. The analyst works with large datasets to identify variances and trends and helps ensure accurate, reliable financial information.

The position is fully remote, with occasional requested travel to Chattanooga for events. Preference will be given to candidates within a 50-mile radius of Chattanooga. Sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience; equivalent work experience is 4 years in a related field.
• 3 years of work experience in an accounting or financial position.
• Public accounting experience is weighted as 2 years of applicable work experience for each year of experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leadership teams.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or in a team environment, sharing responsibility, roles, and accountability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work as a team player, stay organized, and handle multiple projects.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Proven priority-setting and project management skills.

• Experience with employee benefit accounting.
• Exposure to AI-enabled tools.
• Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, organization, and a proactive approach to learning.
• Residence within a 50-mile radius of Chattanooga is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reporting, and analysis.
• Identify and research trends and developments.
• Lead special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests.
• Collaborate with others to identify process improvements.
• Support employee and retiree benefit accounting.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Perform variance analysis and use large datasets to identify variances and trends.
